(189) Continued discussion

Josh Zepps recently took the measure of suburban poverty in a five minute discussion with several parties including a democrat running in the New York City area.  Again, the viewer gets an impressionistic description of the problem.  Retelling suburban poverty as “new”, as if there was nothing going wrong before 2008, and reiterating the lack of social services in spread out suburbs and that this is all somehow not the American dream as previously advertised doesn’t advance solutions.  Still, it is good to see mainstream media have not simply let go of the story.  How could they?  We do need more detail and some effort to understand possible responses.  A year from now, we’ll probably be seeing identical coverage?
